Math & Technology

Technology is indeed an interesting and interactive way to help children learn and apply mathematical concepts. However it can only serve as a tool in children's mathematics journey. Without concrete experiences, children will not be able to see the meaning and purpose of math.

Below is a video of a group of first graders manipulating with SMART boards, iPads and calculators to work on math facts. Notice, such lessons still requires the interaction between teachers and peers. Technology should not be used as a standalone. Social interaction is vital in any learning, including math.
